School History

The history of The Cathedral Grammar School is very much entined in the history of Christchurch. The first published history of the school was "Ex Cathedra" written in the lead-up to the school's centenary. A more complete and reliable history is "Julilate!" written by ex-headmaster Roger Couper for the school's 125th celebration in 2006.

Each year, pupils in Year 6 - 8 compete in the Knowledge of School History competition towards the end of Term 1.  A summary of the information in the above two references is available here for pupils and parents to consult but reading of "Jubilate!" is recommended.  The book is available from the school library and the Christchurch Public Library and a copy is given to each new pupil as he/she enrols.
