3 June   Merlins  Win 24 -20  Jemima Pett   A fantastic start got Grammar off to a commanding position by halftime. Hayley and Jemima were superb in the shooting circle while Katie and Katy were providing super service. 24 June   New Brighton Club  Win 22 - 4 Milly Mitchell A well deserved victory after a brilliant start. Plenty to work on as they stifled our flow in the middle quarters. Super work in dfence by the whole team with special mention to our defenders Sophia, Milly, Hayley ,Vivien, Noor and Una. Another super result.
1 July  Marist Albion JB Win 28 - 12 Una Kinajil-Reding A close game where the team applied the game plan to perfection. They weathered the early pressure then stepped up their clinical performance. Fabulous shooting by Jemima and Una complemented the top effort of the midcourt and defensive players.
8 July  St Margaret's T Loss 14 - 21 Sophia Stewart In the top of the table clash, Grammar were unable to score goals and turned the ball over too many times for the hard working defence to hold out. Top effort by Sophia, Hayley, Vivien and Milly. It was good to see the fighting spirit as the team fought back to win the second and the final quarter.
29 July  Merlins Loss  18 -29  Hayley Duggan & Jemima Pett  Despite beating the tall team in the first round, Grammar were unable to compete successfully until the final quarter this time. Plenty to work on.

19 August   Parklands win  33 -15  Una Kinajil-Reding Milly Mitchell  A positive game girls as you took it to them and the one to one marking helped us to many intercepts. A fabulous result! Good positive aggression by Milly against a tall opponent. Pressure from Una, Katy and Vivien helped too. Good movement in the shooting circle by our shooters.
26 August  Belfast M loss 21 - 28 The whole team A game of tenacity and pressure against the top team where Grammar held the lead for the first two quarters before the pressure and effort told. Hayley and Jemima were getting possession in the circle from Katy and Noor, while Milly, Una were defending midcourt. Vivien was competing successfully for the ball and Sophia was playing through injury and showing the fighting spirit of the team.

5 May Redcliffs  Loss  1-9 Maddie Glossop   A tough start against a lively and quick opposition. We looked well off the pace for much of the first half and it looked like Redcliffs could amass a huge score. Grammar pulled it back in the second half and became more competitive. Some work to do on adapting to the new 6V6 format and on fitness!
12 May   Paparoa Street Panthers  Loss 2-10  Meika Englebrect   A fairly even balanced match but Paparoa Street made more of their opportunities. We passed the ball well at times and there were some good passages of play. Great energy and enthusiasm. Well done.
19 May  Cashmere School  Charmers Win 15-2 Eleanor Begley Super team effort! The girls worked hard and deserved their win. What was great to see was the way the girls transfered skills learned from practice into their match. Well-done!
26 May  Hearts St Peters H Loss 7-12 Emily Fradd Two evenly matched teams with St Peters having the extra edge in the last quarter. We moved the ball well but were guilty of coming off our players in defence. A great team effort with Emily Fradd demonstrating superb tenacity and spirit. Well done.
2 June Cashmere Club Loss 9-6 Nya Kinajil-Reding A very evenly contested match which Cashmere just secured in the final quarter. Our defence worked really hard with special mention to Nya, Meika and Elise for really tight marking. Great effort girls.
9 June   Hearts St Peters H Win 12-9 Cassidy Ward Progress in all areas of the game and especially defence was evident in this win. A couple of weeks ago we lost to this team. It was still a close match but this time Grammar had the edge.
Well done girls.

16 June   Cashmere Crusaders Loss 9-7 Emily Fradd A good match where our defensive sills were tested. Emily Fradd worked tirelessly in the centre court to get the ball into the attack, Converting our shooting opportunities into goals is something to work on.
23 June   No match  Weather cancellation
30 June  Parklands K Draw 4-4 Elise Lim Very stringent umpiring killed the flow of the game but also highlighted some areas to work on to progress. Nevertheless a tight match played in good spirit with a fair result.
7 July  St Margaret's Y Draw 6-6 Nya Kinajil-Reding
28 July Middleton K Weather cancellation
4 August Cashmere Primary Crusaders Draw 4-4 Mieka Engelbrecht
11 August Mt Pleasant Gold loss 12-7 Emily Fradd & Eleanor Begley
18 August Cashmere R win 9-4 Nya Kinaji-Reding A very keenly umpired game which interrupted the true flow of the game. When it did flow Grammar moved the ball quickly and found great space. It was very encouraging to see the girls work so well as a team.
25 August St Margaret's Z Win 4-3 Scarlett Bailey An intense and exciting match to finish the season. Grammar  managed to clinch it in the end much to the delight of the sidelines. A super effort all round. Well done girls!

5 May South New Brighton  Win 10-1  The Team  Grammar immediately took control of the court and continued to dominate the play through-out, with assertive attacking and conscientious defending. There was opportunity for players to rotate positions and the girls worked seamlessly as a team. A strong start to the season.
12 May  Paparoa Pumas Win  4-2  Sophie Dark  The first half saw neither team score as both teams fought for control of the court. After half time, however, Grammar was determined to get ahead and scored four goals. Grammar worked hard on communicating with each other and moving to spaces where team mates could pass the ball freely. A very competitive game.
19 May   Cashmere Club U Win 15-4 Natalie Smith
and
Kiri Lovatt
Some strong and quick passing down made it difficult for Cashmere to get into the game. We were one step ahead of them at all times. It is very encouraging to see so many goals scored so early on in the season. Great effort, girls.
26 May   Bye
2 June  Cashmere Hoops Win  5-4  Abbey
McCormack-Young
A very competitive game this week, played in rather wet weather. Great defence from the opposition meant we had to work extra hard on the court. As the other team had taller players, we trialed a few bounce passes for the first time which worked well. Great effort everyone!
9 June   South New Brighton School Kotuku Win 14-5 Jessica Erasmus Some great defensive moves today from the Waves. Several superb intercepts when the girls managed to come out of nowhere and snatch the ball. Also great shadowing of the opposition by our defenders. The weather is is getting colder now so some cold fingers lead to a bit of fumbling with the ball. Overall, a game to be proud of.
16 June   St Francis of Assisi G Loss 9-5 Qiao Yu Guan

A fast pace game against a very well drilled team. This week we focussed on shooting from above our head, holding the ball correctly. The girls had the opportunity to play in different positions each quarter and we had plenty of parent support on the side lines. Good effort team.
23 June  No match      Weather cancellation
30 June  Merrin All Stars Win 16-0 Whole Team Our focus this week was on sportsmanship, encouraging not only our team mates, but also players in the opposing team. We played with no subs, but maintained a high energy level throughout. Accurate passing and catching, along with a committed defence saw another win for the Waves! Well done team.
7 July  Heathcote Valley School Y4 Win 11-4 Sophie Dark Poor weather conditions did not stop us putting in 100% effort and winning the game. Our defensive payers showed determination, intercepting the ball many times. The girls' ball skills are continuing to develop steadily and they are moving the ball up and down the court with increasing care and strategy. Another game to be proud of.
28 July   Waimairi Y4
   Weather cancellation
4 August  South New Brighton Loss  8-9   Kiri Lovatt  Both sides played to their full potential and were evenly matched. Our team took the ball through the court to the goal with minimal intercepts. We caught our fair share of rebounds at the goal and used them to our advantage. Well done, team.
11 August Paparoa Pumas  Loss  5-7 Qiao Yu Guan  A competitive game, but unfortunately our focus was not as good as usual. We worked on the skill of a short pass then long pass from centre, to drive towards our goal. Our last game this week so let's put in 100% girls.
18 August  Cashmere U  Won 14-5  Abbey McCormack-Young   We picked up our pace this week with much success. Strong defense from the team and some excellent goal shooting. The girls worked well together, driving the ball towards our goal. Great effort team.
25 August   Cashmere School Hoops Loss 3-2 Whole team We were winning at half time, but a change of positions altered the dynamics of the game, allowing the opposition to get the better of us. However, we all enjoyed this last game of the season. Well done team.

5 May  Bye
12 May  St Patrick's Loss  2-4 Alice Howard  A happy and enthusiastic first game. All girls  had an opportunity to play in two positions. We scored our first goal of the season and laughed our way through the game. Lots to work on for future success.
19 May  Redcliffs Loss 1-3 Yian Tian Chen A fast moving game against an opposition who seemed unaware of the 1 metre rule! Some fluid passing up the court and strong defence. The next step is to increase the accuracy of our shooting as we had many opportunities to score.
 26 May  Bye
2 June   Lyttelton G Win 5-1 Summer Zhou Yippee, our first win! Well deserved after some great progress this season. We used skills we have practised to move into space after passing the ball. Remembering to take shots slowly increased our accuracy. Great game girls.
9 June   Merrin Magicians Loss 1-13 Serena Min  Our passing was on target and we are getting better at sticking to our opponents. Next step is to balance the court so passers have more options. Some wonderful intercepts by Serena. We will continue to work on defence.
16 June   St Francis of     Assisi H Win 10-0 Millie Vink What a difference a week makes! Our defence was tight. Our attackers Millie, Serena, Alice and Summer worked together giving us a high goal count. Strong centre passing from Serena ensured the ball stayed in our side of the court. Perhaps our height was an advantage too, a wonderful win. Well done team.
23 June  No match  Weather cancellation
30 June  Halswell Club JI Win 8-6 Summer Zhou An evenly matched game in which both teams showed determined defence. Our goals is to notice an opposition's key players and focus on ensuring they do not get the ball. We are learning to balance the court to give passers more options. Calling for the ball helped this too. Remembering correct techniques helped with shooting accuracy.
7 July Waimairi School Y3&4 Loss 3-7 Tiantian Chen  A wet and cold evening made for slippy conditions. Grammar played some good netball, passing the ball quickly on attack. A good shooting technique from Alice Howard in the last quarter enabled Grammar to finish strongly.
 28 July  St Patrick's D  Weather cancellation
4 August  Redcliffs Y3&4 Loss 3-2 Hayley Jiang (Y3) An evenly matched, enjoyable game in which both sides used teamwork and communication. Our focus was balancing the court. We are trying hard to spread out to give ball throwers more chance of making a quick pass.
 11 August  Bye
18 August Lyttelton G Win 8-0 Millie Vink This is the second time we have played this team. Our scoreline improved and strong defence meant they could not score. The ball spent most of the game in our half and we worked as a team under the hoop to get as many shots as possible. Well done girls!
25 August Game 1 v Merrin Magicians Loss 8-0 The Whole Team Our last two games were a fair reflection of the season. We have played both these teams before and our scores today were similar or better. We held a very strong Merrin team back by 5 goals from our last meeting and maintained a high scoring rate against St Francis of  Assissi. The team played with determination and enjoyed their last outing this season. I look forward to following their progress next year. Great season girls!
Game 2 v St Francis of Assissi H Win 9-1 The Whole Team
