  • Term 1: Emily Stewart (7G) wins silver medals in the 100m & 200m breaststroke and a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke events of the Canterbury Swimming Championships. Read more
  • Term 1: James Garbett (6B) and Josh Murison (7B) selected to represent Canterbury at the Boys 12s Grade in the annual Town v Country Tennis Tournament in which the team was runners-up.
  • Term 1: Emily Stewart (7G) gains national rankings at the New Zealand Junior Swimming Championships. Read more
  • Term 1: Six swimmers selected to represent the independent school Zone at the Canterbury Primary Schools' Swimming Championships. Read more
  • Term 1: Girls' 1st Cricket XI beats Cobham Intermediate to advance to the Christchurch Final of the NZ Shield.  Read more
  • Term 1: Emily Stewart (7G) wins Girls' 11yrs & under 50m Breaststroke at Canterbury Primary School Championships and takes out 2nd in Girls' 11yrs 50m freestyle.  Ben Place takes 3rd place in Boys' 9yrs 50m Freestyle. Read more
  • Term 1: Girls' 1st Cricket XI completes the season unbeaten for 20 matches and wins the Yr 7 & 8 competition, retaining the Tiffen Shield for the 3rd season in a row! Read more
  • Term 1: Jamie Garbett (6B) wins the Canterbury Tennis Age Grade Championship for 10 years.  Read more
  • Term 2: The Cathedral Grammar Boys' Hockey team wins the Canterbury Hockey Super 6 Easter Tournament. Read more
  • Term 2: 9 Years Girls team wins the Independent School's Cross-country Championships. Harriet Place is placed 2nd in 11 Year Girls event. Read more
  • Term 2: Six pupils selected to represent Independent Zone at Canterbury Primary Schools' Cross-country Championships.  Read more
  • Term 2: Three girls Olivia Clarke (8G), Emily Stewart (7G) & Jessica Gray (8G) selected for Canterbury U13A basketball rep team and win South Island Championship. Read more
  • Term 2: Alex Meekings (7B) is 1st in Floor routine and comes 4th overall in Grade 2 of the Canterbury Primary Schools' Artistic Gymnastics Competition.  Abbey Heale (7G) is 2nd in Bars routine and comes 6th overall in Grade 3. Jemima Pegg (5G) is 1st on Vault, 2nd on Floor and placed 3rd overall in in Grade 5 of Canterbury Primary Schools' Competitive Gymnastics CompetitionRead more

  • Term 2: CGS team 4th in Canterbury Kids' Lit Quiz.  Read more.
  • Term 2: CGS Year 8 Boys team comes 3rd= in the ODT Spelling Quiz.  Read more
  • Term 2: 11 pupils in Year 8 (24% of all Year 8 CGS pupils) are awarded scholarships to independent secondary schools.  Read more
  • Term 3: 2 High Distinctions, 11 Distinctions and 28 Credit awards in the ICAS Science Competition. 53% of CGS entrants receive awards.  Read more
  • Term 3: 3 High Distinctions, 12 Distinctions and 20 Credit awards in the ICAS Spelling Competition. 53% of CGS entrants receive awards.  Read more
  • Term 3: 14 Distinctions and 24 Credit awards in the ICS Writing Competition. 51% of CGS entrants receive awards. Read more
  • Term 3: Fawzan Sugarwala (7MB) wins three major prizes, and Clementine Rose (7G) wins 2 major prizes in the Canterbury Science & Technology Fair.  Read more
  • Term 3: 3 High Distinctions, 20 Distinctions and 28 Credit awards in the ICAS English Competition. 60% of CGS entrants receive awards.  Read more

  • Term 4: Ben Johnson (8EB) wins place in Special Music Programme at Burnside High School.

Cultural
  • Term 1: Chris Bruerton, ex-pupil, is selected by audition to become the next member of the world-renown King's Singers.  Read more and more.
  • Term 2: Girls' Chapel Choir appear as invited guests at concert by Cecilian Singers. Read more.
  • Term 2: All 18 pupils who auditioned gained places in the auditioned Special Groups of the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival.  Read more 
  • Term 3: Year 7 & 8 A Grade Chess team win Zone Chess Championships.  Read more
  • Term 3: Senior Chess team is Runner-up in Christchurch Inter-School Chess Competition.  Read more
